Just checking in…..

First I’m just checking in with any locals that are here!!! My next in person show will be in October 12TH and 13TH at the Cortland Repertoire Theater 🎭. I’ve included their website below so you can take a look at the latest details.

https://cortlandrep.org/little-york-fall-fiber-arts-festival/

It’s an amazing venue with so many wonderful artisans. I’ll be selling and hopefully demonstrating the art of basket weaving

Hope to see you there.

The end of summer approaches!!!

Summer is coming to an end here in Central New York. The Great New York Fair starts next week and to me it’s the official end of summer. It’s been a hot one but very productive on the basket front. I’ve been keeping up with all the orders, AND stocking up for my in person shows. My new work space is working out well and I’m finally getting used to it.

So I’m wishing you all a great rest of the summer and hope you are looking forward to fall as much as I am.

Ready For The Day…

Thursday Morning- Making few orders.

Here are the raw materials I use to create some wall baskets. Included are 1/4” Flat Oval Reed, 1/2” Flat Reed, 5/8” Flat Reed and 1/4” Flat Reed.

Reed For Weaving

For these particular Wall Baskets , I’ll be using some Oak Handles. These are used to create the unique shape of these baskets.

Two types of handles here. 8” X 12” Tapered Oak Handles and 5” X 14” straight Oak Handles.

Here are the baskets I’m making with the Tapered Handles in mid production.

And here are the Baskets I’m making with the taller, non-tapered handles. Although the handles are slightly similar, the baskets will be totally different.

Below are the baskets finished for the day

They will dry the rest of today, and tomorrow I’ll stain and trim them.

The finished product.

Hope you have a magnificent weekend!!!

Patriotic Decor

It’s so easy to create a little Patriotic Vignette in your home. Start with a tray basket. First add some red checked napkins with some cute napkin rings. Next place it on a blue tablecloth or runner. Lastly add some little Red, White & Blue hearts, or bottles, or coasters. So easy. ⬇️♥️⬇️🤍⬇️💙

Or you can use these cute little Red, White & Blue Baskets. Put them anyplace you want a pop of Color such as a small shelf or a tiered tray. ⬇️♥️⬇️🤍⬇️💙

Or you can use an All-in-One Red White & Blue Basket such as this. You can hang from a peg and add little flags, red flowers or little windmills. ⬇️♥️⬇️🤍⬇️💙

Happy Sunday & God Bless America

Foraging and Harvesting Baskets

This time of year is busy for my Foraging and Harvesting Baskets. These are just the right size for gathering mushrooms, leaves, flowers or anything you like to pickup along the way. You can also use them to carry your every day items or a notebook and some pens. I make them with a long carrying strap so you can carry over the shoulder, or you can carry cross body. You can find a couple of these right here on my website http://www.bouquetofbaskets.net or I have a larger selection on my Etsy Site See some of the different options below, but as always, these are handmade so very easily customizable. Hope you are having a great weekend and Happy Foraging!!!

A New Idea

Some of the best ideas come directly from my customers. I had one ask me about making a bell. Well I didn’t see any patterns I liked so I just tried a freehand version. Here it is.

At first , there wasn’t enough “flare”, so I tightened up the top. I think it’s something I may be offering in a week or so. Stay tuned.

Primitive Pumpkins

I make these guys every year just for a few months. I use beautiful hand felted wool from some exquisite Etsy Shops.

TYPICAL FALL COLORS

I use some wire for the tendrils, and a cinnamon stick for the stem. They are stuffed with polyester beads and new fiberfill. The string is 100% hemp.

Hope you love them as much as I do.

FYI- These are from a pattern I purchased from SewManyPrims. If you like to sew, you can make them too. They are a fairly easy pattern to make, but you do need a variety of supplies for them.

If you have any questions, ask away !!!!

Busy weekend !!!

Just recovering from quite a busy weekend. Two of my sisters were in from out of town and thankfully we were able to get together a few times. Not to mention, our Grand NEICE had her graduation party so that was fun. It was fun overload.

Then there was the GARLIC !!

Toward the end of last week we picked our garlic. So by picking garlic, I mean harvested our garlic. I’m guessing around 800 plants. I spent time braiding it so that was on the list too. But it’s all done, and we’re back to the old routine. This can be both good and bad I guess. Have a wonderful week.
